Appeal to common sense

Also called: Everybody knows

Treating something as obvious so it doesn't need an argument.

How to spot it

Is “it's just common sense” offered in place of reasons?

Example

“It's obvious. Anyone can see it.”

How to answer it

Many true things aren't obvious, and some obvious things are false. Ask why.
